The cosmopolitan city of BORDEAUX is well worth a visit if only to stroll along the banks of the Garonne. BORDEAUX city, which is famed for its architectural heritage of the 18th century, is 25 minutes by car, and there are numerous historical monuments, museums and galleries, gourmet restaurants and countless designer shops to visit.

Neighbouring ST ÉMILION, which is renowned the world over for its red wine, is a medieval town and can be likened to an amazing open-air museum, with many Châteaux offering visits and degustations.

In addition to the local POMEROL, ST ÉMILION and FRONSAC wines, wine lovers can also enjoy and explore the vineyards of the HAUT MÉDOC and SAUTERNES, which are also close by!

An hour by car brings you to many of Europe's finest unspoilt beaches on the ATLANTIC OCEAN. Why not visit the glamorous CAP FERRET and dine in some of the finest seafood restaurants to be found on this coastline? Measuring 107 meters the DUNE DU PYLA, is Europe's highest sand dune and worth a climb for the most spectacular views!

For the young-at-heart surfer "dudes" enthusiasts LACANAU, (which hosts each year one of Europe's biggest surf competitions) is the place to get wet. The charming, buzzing ocean side town of ARCACHON – with its oyster bays and its protected basin – is an ideal safe swimming destination for younger children.
